V2 Launches to Spark Creative Building at Intersection of Art and Tech in Vancouver

October 31, 2024 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

A new initiative dubbed V2 is seeking to spark the next generation of creative innovation in British Columbia.

Launched this month, V2 is an open collective for technology, art, and science in Vancouver operating on the thesis that growth emerges from the intersection of people creating across disciplines and experience levels.

Describing Vancouver as “a place of latent potential,” V2 hopes to better tap into the city’s “deep understanding of scientific research, the environment, music, art, fashion, film, multiculturalism, and open technology.”

Those behind the collective believe that, “by amplifying the creative spirit of people who are building extraordinary things here, we can deeply impact the future of humanity.”

That includes Scott Langille, who is spearheading the project and recently spoke at BetaKit’s first Town Hall in Vancouver.

Amenities set to be offered by V2 include co-working spaces and experimental residency locations that will allow creatives to “go full-time on ideas in a house designed for building extraordinary things.”

V2 also plans to offer a demo line-up showcasing local talent next summer.

The organization welcomes “anyone building across technology, art, and science,” with an overall aim to “foster an ecosystem where impactful projects flourish within its events and beyond.”

Ultimately, V2 intends to become a gathering place “knowledge transfer and practice across important topics of the future, relevant to all disciplines,” bringing people “from curious to ambitious to accomplished.”
