Solaires Advances Perovskite Solar Technology with Mass Production Milestone

December 3, 2024 by Robert Lewis Leave a Comment

Victoria’s Solaires has reached a milestone in clean energy innovation.

Through its joint venture, SEI Energy Technology, with Shanghai’s Genesis Technologies, Solaires has completed trial production of perovskite-based photovoltaic (PV) modules on a mass production line.

The announcement signals progress for the photovoltaic industry, with perovskite materials emerging as a promising technology. These modules offer stability, sustainable materials, and cost efficiency, making them suitable for large-scale production.

With a third-party tested conversion efficiency exceeding 35% in 2024, Solaires is setting new standards for indoor light power generation.

SEI’s manufacturing process for perovskite materials stands out for its simplicity and efficiency. Compared to traditional crystalline silicon solar cells, perovskite materials offer adjustable optical band gaps, high absorption coefficients, and long carrier diffusion lengths. These properties enable higher energy conversion rates and make perovskite modules a competitive alternative to traditional options. Additionally, the process reduces production cycles, improves yields, and uses environmentally friendly raw materials.

Brian Yang, Chairman of SEI Energy, highlighted the achievement: “Through half a year of hard work from both Solaires scientists and SEI engineers, I am proud to say that we have made a significant step forward in the commercialization of Solaires’ perovskite technologies.”
