Richmond’s MDA Space has been selected as the prime contractor for Globalstar’s next-generation low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation, securing a definitive contract valued at approximately $1.1 billion.
Under the agreement, MDA Space will manufacture more than 50 MDA AURORA™ software-defined digital satellites for Globalstar, a major satellite operator providing mobile satellite services worldwide.

The deal builds upon an initial Authorization to Proceed (ATP) contract announced in November 2023. Approximately $750 million will be added to MDA’s backlog in the first quarter of fiscal 2025, supplementing the previously recorded $350 million from the ATP, bringing the total contract value to $1.1 billion.
