The Vancouver startup behind a garbage bin that’s powered by artificial intelligence has been singled out by Macleans magazine as a potential billion-dollar breakout in 2019.
Co-founders Hassan Murad and Vivek Vyas are the pair behind the smart bin that blends robotics and machine learning to identify and divert trash into the appropriate spot.
Intuitive has developed an AI sensor called Oscar that attaches to any garbage can and tells people where their trash should go: garbage, recycling or organics.
Intuitive is no stranger to accolades.
They won NextAI’s Outstanding Venture Award and $150,000 in seed funding in 2017 after spending five months at the Toronto-based accelerator and in 2018 they were named one of the top 20 most innovative technology companies by the Canadian Innovation Exchange.
