Security Startup to Screen Fans at Rogers Arena Using AI

April 15, 2019 by Techcouver Newsdesk Leave a Comment

According to a report in the Vancouver Sun today, fans entering Rogers Arena could be early test subjects for one company’s bid to screen sports fans upon entry.

Vancouver-headquarted Liberty Defense Technologies (TSX: SCAN) will use advanced radar, 3D imaging and AI to unobtrusively screen sports fans as part of a Memorandum of Understanding it has signed with the Vancouver Arena Limited Partnership.

Liberty Defense has an exclusive worldwide license to use technology developed by MIT’s Lincoln Labs to detect concealed weapons in high-volume foot traffic areas. The proposed testing of HEXWAVE will occur at a site to be determined within or near Rogers Arena.

Canucks Sports and Entertainment owner Francesco Aquilini is an adviser to Liberty Defense.
