Borealis AI officially opened its Vancouver research centre today with RBC President and CEO Dave McKay formally inaugurating the space.
Borealis AI supports RBC’s innovation strategy through fundamental scientific study and exploration in machine learning theory and applications. The team aims to develop state-of-the-art and supports academic collaborations with world-class research centres in artificial intelligence.
The ribbon cutting by McKay was followed by an informal panel moderated by John Stackhouse with Foteini Agrafioti and Vancouver research director, Greg Mori.
Borealis AI partnered with design firm Lemay to come up with an identify for the Vancouver office that proudly represent the city it inhabits. Check out the new office below.
Borealis AI’s Vancouver space was designed to evoke scenes of cozy ski lodges, wildlife and mountain climbs. There’s even a room themed after the city’s favourite mode of transportation – the bicycle –which is the embodiment of high- and low-tech in perfect tandem.
