Vancouverites are well aware of Amazon’s plans for our city.
The e-commerce giant has signed a deal to occupy the largest parcel of office space in the city’s core, taking up the full city block where the old Vancouver Post Office stood.
To fill that space Amazon needs to hire like crazy.
Amazon currently has 38,453 open roles to fill worldwide. Amazon is seeking everyone from hourly warehouse workers to top-paid machine-learning experts, underscoring the breadth and scope of the company’s operations and ambition.
Amazon’s Seattle headquarters, where it already has more than 50,000 employees, remains the location of the plurality of job openings, and by a large margin. There are over 11,000 openings listed in Seattle.
In Vancouver there are currently 1,030 open roles which places the city third behind Bangalore, India and hometown Seattle. HQ3 has a nice ring to it.
Of those Vancouver job listings, 862 are software development roles alone and 490 of those positions are with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Other departments hiring software developers in Vancouver include Economics Technology, Alexa Household Organization, Consumer Payments, and Middle Mile Transportation Technology.
