Mobify CEO Igor Faletski announced today that Salesforce has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Mobify in what he calls “a natural extension of our multi-year partnership”. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Mobify has been a member of Salesforce’s beta program for their new Commerce APIs and launched a Headless Commerce Accelerated program this past July in partnership with the SaaS giant.
Mobify was co-founded in 2007 by Igor Faletski, John Boxall, and Peter McLachlan. Faletski and Boxall met while attending Simon Fraser University and hatched the business idea there.
After continuously missing their bus during their final year of school, the pair saw an opportunity to address this common problem using mobile devices. They developed a system to deliver bus schedules to their mobile devices through SMS text messaging. Local media buzz around the service motivated them to start their own company in Igor’s mother’s basement.
Mobify will provide Salesforce Commerce Cloud with a modern storefront solution that will allow brands to customize their commerce experiences faster and more frequently, deliver an enhanced shopping experience across any channel, and further increase conversion and revenue to drive success in the digital-first economy.
Global brands such as Under Armour and Shiseido rely on Mobify to provide a modern progressive web app experience and the infrastructure to host, scale and secure their digital storefronts in a headless environment so they can stay ahead of customer demands and deliver a lightning fast experience across all devices.
In 2017 Mobify raised a $15 million funding round that included Vancouver-based Vistara Capital Partners, Impulse International, and Dallas-based Comerica Bank.
