The Canadian Innovation Exchange has announced the CIX TOP 20 Early and CIX TOP 10 Growth innovative Canadian technology startups for their 2020 program.
The selected companies represent a diverse range of technology companies spanning software, AI, medtech, fintech, big data, security, SaaS and cleantech sectors.
CIX has two curation programs – the CIX TOP 20 Early, for companies with net revenue of less than $5 million or who have raised less than $10 million, and the CIX TOP 10 Growth program for later stage companies.
Two local companies were included in the CIX Top 20, Vancouver’s Beanworks and SkyHive.
Beanworks is an accounts payable automation solution designed to save you time & money using automation workflows for managing and approving invoices. Beanworks raised a raised a $10.1 million Series B round in 2018.
SkyHive is a leading workforce reskilling technology, helping today’s enterprises equip their workers with the skills of the future. SkyHive is a finalist in the upcoming 2020 Technology Impact Awards in the Spirit of BC Tech category.
“We were unsure of how the pandemic would impact submissions this year,” said Lauren Linton, Executive Director of CIX. “The surge in applications shows that Canadian startups are keen to show off their innovation and get back to business. It’s a very impressive cohort this year.”
“Investors are having a difficult time accessing deal flow due to the pandemic, and this list of curated companies helps them identify hot start-ups to target,” added Linton.
Beanworks and SkyHive will now present virtually at CIX Digital Summit on October 20th to over 1,000 investors and peers in the North American technology ecosystem.
This year’s CIX TOP 20 join an elite list of alumni including Clearbanc, D-Wave, Freshbooks, Wattpad, Wave and Wealthsimple.
