Vancouver’s Version One Ventures has invested in and worked with close to 100 startups over the past ten years. Their portfolio has included Vancouver’s Clio, Dapper Labs, Indochino, and Unbounce.
Sharing their knowledge with the masses is nothing new for Version One. Late last year they published their 3rd ebook, the Startup Handbook, which followed their first two publications, The Guide to Marketplaces and Understanding Social Platforms.
But time flies when you’re busy investing and a lot can change in fast moving industries, so Version One has updated their guide to marketplaces with a new third edition.
We’re thrilled to announce the third edition of “A Guide to Marketplaces.” We published our first edition five years ago and the second nearly three years ago. So much has changed since then – from the rise of B2B marketplaces to new crypto-native platforms.
Even as we explore emerging sectors like climate and crypto, we continue to be excited about marketplaces. And our work with marketplace founders and startups has continued to inform our understanding of the challenges and opportunities that these platforms face.
According to Tran, the first two editions had over 50,000 downloads and lots of feedback, so the Version One team (now including Max Webster) have incorporated this into this new edition. You’ll also find an updated section on seeding initial supply and demand, as well as an entirely revised chapter on marketplace types.
You can download the new edition here.
