In January of 2019 Vancouver-founded real estate startup Spacio was acquired, ending one chapter in Melissa Kwan’s entrepreneurial journey.
Two months later Kwan was starting another. This time she would “scratch her own itch” and create an automated webinar platform that solves her own pain of doing the same presentation online repeatedly.
eWebinar automates the mind-numbing task of giving the same presentation over and over by cleverly combining pre-recorded video with real- time interactions and live chat.
And Kwan’s timing couldn’t be better. Every company that had an online video/webinar strategy before the COVID-19 pandemic hit is supercharging it now. But as we all know, with that comes Zoom fatigue.
In a world where people—both hosts and attendees—are so Zoomed out, Kwan believes automated webinars are going to be the next big thing. “Your customers will be delighted by the experience, and you’ll get your time back,” Kwan writes.
Kwan soft-launched eWebinar.com three months ago and already has over sixty customers – mostly software-as-a-service businesses but also some non-tech companies like real estate brokerages. eWebinar’s sweet spot is with customer success, sales/marketing, and recruiting teams that automate things like demos, training, onboarding, and product pitches.
With a reported 85% conversion rate from trial to paid, it appears Kwan’s itch is one that many businesses are feeling online.
