Two months after being named as Partner and CEO of Vancouver-born Doodles, Julian Holguin has named star music producer Pharrell Williams as its chief brand officer.
The announcement was made at a private Doodle-holder event during NFT.NYC, flashing a video of Williams speaking on the big screen of a packed Palladium Theater.
“I’m a big fan of the brand,” Williams said in the video. “We’re going to build from the core community outward and bring Doodles to new heights, new levels.”
Williams will produce an NFT-inspired album titled Doodles Records: Volume 1, which will be launched in partnership with Columbia Records.
No one should be surprised that Doodles newest hire comes from the entertainment industry.
Holguin brings over a decade of experience leading the strategic growth and innovation efforts during Billboard’s transformation solely from a B2B trade publication to a consumer facing music brand for fans.
His move to Doodles signalled an exciting new era in NFTs and Holguin is tasked with managing the most loved web3 media brand worldwide.
A community-driven collectibles NFT project, Doodle NFTs are a collection of 10,000 unique characters made up of a hundred exciting traits of faces, hair, hats, bodies, and backgrounds living on the Ethereum blockchain.
Doodles was founded by Dapper Labs alumni Evan Keast and Jordan Castro, and world-renowned artist burnt toast.
Designed by burnt toast, each Doodle is meant to spark joy – and they do. Vibrant, pastel colours are the primary palette of this project, with each character different from the last.
Arguably one of the strongest communities in the NFT space, holding a Doodle allows you to participate in coordinating the Doodles Community Treasury.
In addition to the Pharell Williams announcement, Holguin also announced the project had raised a funding round led by Alexis Ohanian’s VC firm, along with “Doodles 2,” a more accessible version of the collection that will be built on a non-Ethereum chain.
