While companies like Amazon have grown to promise customers two-day delivery, their ability to deliver has set customer expectations so high that smaller companies simply cannot compete.
Darwynn, a Canadian fulfillment solution combining world-class tech and massive warehousing, is setting out to democratize the fulfillment industry, allowing any eCommerce company to compete.
The company is set to have locations across the nation, enabling speedy fulfillment for any company, regardless of their order volume. The technology they are bringing to the market will truly revolutionize the logistics industry here in Canada, with hopes of expanding in the future.
Techcouver sat down with CEO Reza Bafandeh to learn more about the company and where they are headed next.
What is Darwynn?
RB: Darwynn is a nationwide, end-to-end fulfillment center and is building a technology-driven infrastructure that will allow any eCommerce business to compete, regardless of their size or order volume.
The physical fulfillment centers are equipped with a world-class, leading technology system that provides greater efficiency, productivity and transparency for the business and the customer. Additionally, Darwynn enables sellers through the use of automation, data and geographic footprint to intelligently position stock closer to the end consumer.
What is your mission?
RB: Darwynn strives to be the most innovative and seller-centric platform, and will enable merchants and companies of all sizes and industries to serve their customers in a cost-effective manner. The system will also allow for greater flexibility and scalability. In saying this, we aim to take a number of measures to guarantee an excellent customer experience.
How will a new technology like yours impact the Canadian market and economy?
RB: Darwynn’s ecosystem will allow companies of varying order volumes to benefit from economies of scale because of our proprietary Automated Multi-Tenant Ecosystem. This will allow for order consolidation within the fulfillment center, regardless of the merchant. Not only will this benefit the brands by saving them money, it will also have a positive sustainability impact, by decreasing the amount of packaging by combining orders and allowing greater efficiency for the courier.
With this, Darwynn is able to provide a flexible and scalable solution to meet the demands of most companies with minimal upfront cost, meaning that they can benefit from the system whether they need one order fulfilled or one million orders.
Why is this industry disruption so necessary?
RB: As a result of COVID-19 and our increased reliance and WORD on two-day shipping, customer expectations have fundamentally shifted, with many companies incapable of being able to meet those expectations. Predominantly this comes down to the inability to secure both the time and capital investment required to set up the necessary infrastructure for excellent fulfillment.
As a result, there have been a handful of big players that have managed to adapt to this norm, while others are left in their shadows. Darwynn strives to provide an alternative solution that helps put the control back into the hands of the merchants and democratize the eCommerce industry.
What is the biggest challenge for eCommerce companies in terms of logistics and order fulfillment? How does Darywnn’s technology empower business owners?
RB: The market has evolved to solutions with either limited configurability, which is extremely labor intensive and not scalable, or to a highly standardized process which limits the flexibility to meet the sellers’ needs. Darwynn provides a solution with unmatched flexibility in a highly automated environment providing industry leading service and pricing.
What is next for Darwynn?
RB: While we have a number of key locations already implementing these new technologies for our partners, we are excited to continue to expand across Canada, with fulfillment centers in the most populated municipalities in the country to ensure quick and efficient delivery times for Canadians.
