Dapper Labs is continuing its popularity among sports leagues, recently announcing a partnership with the Super Bowl LVI Champion Los Angeles Rams, which marks the Vancouver startup’s first season-long partnership with an NFL franchise.
Team NFTs are digital collectibles made in partnership with individual NFL Teams to give fans a chance to rep their favourite teams. The digital collectibles will provide owners with “unique perks within NFL ALL DAY, and represent a new way to be a fan in the digital landscape,” according to a statement from Dapper Labs.
“We are thrilled to team up with Dapper Labs to give Rams fans an opportunity to be part of history and celebrate our Super Bowl championship in an unprecedented way,” said Los Angeles Rams Chief Commercial Officer Jen Prince.
The first set of collectibles featured limited-edition NFTs of the Rams Super Bowl LVI Rings. The designs are based on the real-life versions that Rams players, coaches, and staff received in honour of their Super Bowl win.
“This best-in-class partnership is a great case study for how game-changing technology will allow us to reach our fans and engage new fans both here in California and across the globe,” noted Prince.
Throughout the season, Dapper Labs will also be featured alongside Rams content, including serving as the Presenting Partner of the Moment of the Month. The two brands will also collaborate on a custom content series focused on education around digital collectibles and NFL ALL DAY products.
NFL ALL DAY allows fans to collect digital video Moments featuring the greatest NFL players throughout the season and in history. Currently in closed beta, the platform has welcomed over 186,000 early adopters who have purchased nearly 500,000 packs.
NFL ALL DAY celebrated the 2021 Rams postseason success by releasing two limited-edition NFTs following the team’s Super Bowl and NFC Championship victories.
The rapidly growing disruptor Dapper this year launched its own blockchain, Flow. The Vancouver startup’s momentum has garnered a lot of interest, including from Nick Grudin, who recently joined Dapper as chief business officer. Gruden served 12 years at Facebook, where we was most recently vice president of content and community partnerships at Meta.
Dapper Labs this week also announced a new integration with Instagram, initially rolling out to users in the US. The feature enables collectors to connect their Dapper wallet, share collectibles, and tag people associated with the item.
“Our partnership with Instagram will enable creators and collectors to showcase the NFTs in their Dapper wallet to their communities and larger audiences around the globe,” stated Ridhima Ahuja Kahn of Dapper Labs. “The integration with Instagram is yet another step towards the mainstream adoption of Web3 technologies that both Dapper and Flow were designed to make possible for everyone.”
Dapper was founded in Vancouver in 2018 and is one of BC’s crypto startups to watch. The company’s current partners include the NFL, NBPA, LaLiga, Warner Music Group, Ubisoft, and UFC.
