CIX Canadian Innovation Exchange has announced the Top 10 Growth Stage Companies and the Top 20 Early Stage Companies for their 2022 program.
While the Top 10 Growth Stage company list did not include any B.C.-based companies, the list of CIX Top 20 Early Stage companies included Victoria’s Solaires.
This year’s selections is in contrast to 2021 when seven West Coast companies were acknowledged by CIX with Cocoflo, Fable, Lumen5, Matidor, and Spocket named early stage startups and Dapper Labs and Certn named growth stage companies.
Solaires is focused on developing the next generation of solar cells by replacing silicon with perovskite through an innovative and sustainable manufacturing process resulting in affordable solar photovoltaics with higher energy conversion efficiency and higher stability.
Solaires’ business model includes the sale of their product, Solar Ink™, and the licensing of their perovskite solar cell technology manufacturing process to selected roll-to-roll coaters, solar cell manufacturers, and OEMs.
“CIX received 485 submissions from across Canada this year, a new record,” said Lauren Linton, Executive Director of CIX. “Plus, we were thrilled to see a big surge in women-led companies representing 38.5% of all applicants, an increase in medtech, cleantech and later stage growth companies. Over half the applicants were in the $500K to $5M revenue range.”
Chosen by the CIX 2022 Selection Committee of 100+ global technology investors, the selected companies represent a diverse range of technology companies spanning software, AI, medtech, fintech, big data, security, SaaS and cleantech sectors.
Companies were chosen based on several key factors including product/service offering, depth of management, market opportunity, business model and diversity of the management team.
