Launch Academy this week hosted a Demo Day for International companies building headquarters in Canada.
“Canada is a perfect landing pad for many businesses around the world who are looking to expand their businesses to North America,” states Launch, a designated organization of the Canadian Government’s Startup Visa Program and a designated referral partner for the Global Talent Stream program.
Launch’s Maple Program is designed to help emerging tech companies expand their business to North America.
“We help tech companies identify the best path for immigration for their team and their families,” says Launch.
With origins from around the world including Mexico, Hong Kong, and Nigeria, this should be one of Launch’s most diverse demo days yet.
Here are the startups looking to establish and grow in BC:
FoodNotify – This Austria-born startup has developed software for the hospitality industry. FoodNotify’s SaaS solution prevents food waste and brings transparency to the hospitality industry by digitalizing the whole back-of-house processes of restaurant, catering, and hotel businesses. The company’s goal is to support clients in their daily operations and to switch mindless manual processes into an intelligent automated flow.
Holimood – Generating $9 million in business volume last year, Holimood from Hong Kos is all-in-one solution for tour reservations and activities.
Hemista – This India-born startup promises a first-of-its-kind Cross Border Robo Advisor for investment advisory designed especially for immigrants.
LocalAdventures – An award-winning multi-day travel experience platform developed in Mexico converts complex itineraries into a seamless experience. The company has been in the LATAM market for over six years, and it has become the most relevant multi-day experience platform in Mexico. Now they are expanding to North America.
RockHopper Studios – Rockhopper is a VR studio developing “Musical Range,” a musical metaverse platform where everyone can be a musician, perform any song they want, and personalize their experience. A sandbox for creators and music lovers, a safe space for musical expression. Founded by a team of engineers, creatives and artists in Mexico, Rockhopper’s mission is to create high-quality immersive and interactive experiences.
Rural Farmers Hub – Guided by satellite-based imagery, Nigeria’s Rural Farmers Hub generates data-driven insights on soil, crop, and weather to help farmers improve their yield.
Totem Bear – Founded in Colombia in 2019, Totem Bear drives technological development with their modular system solution that allows to create all the necessary banking processes to build wonderful financial products, innovating and improving opportunities and growth for their clients.
This week, these actively fundraising startups showcased their companies to a room full of investors to vie for introductions and investment offers on the spot. We’re excited to see where momentum takes them into 2023.
