PDFTron Applies Recent Funding to Complete Sixth Acquisition Since 2019

November 17, 2022 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

A Vancouver-based provider of document processing technology for developers and enterprises with major momentum this week announced the acquisition of eversign, a cloud-based electronic signature innovator.

Founded in 2017 and based in Vienna and London, eversign has become one of the most recognized entrants in the e-signature market. Over half a million unique registered users leverage its secure platform to create, edit, and share documents with legally binding and compliant e-signatures.

Earlier this year the well-funded PDFTron Systems acquired Colorado’s Windward Studios, which marked their fifth acquisition since receiving a $71 million growth investment from Silversmith Capital in 2019. Private equity firm Thoma Bravo further enhanced the coffers when it invested this year.

“Over the past two years, we have created the world’s foremost platform for document processing technology, catering to the needs of the largest enterprises and most innovative commercial software providers seeking to develop leading experiences and cost-effective processing for their end users and customers,” stated Cassidy Smirnow, CEO of PDFTron.

The eversion transaction brings together complementary offerings to enable a versatile, all-in-one document manipulation and signing platform, powered by PDFTron’s comprehensive technology suite, according to a statement from the BC company.

“We are thrilled to share the next exciting step in our platform journey as we welcome the eversign team,” said Smirnow. “This combination will further strengthen our ability to deliver powerful, team-based document creation, viewing, manipulation, and signing services to our customers—all in one place.”

The acquisition is PDFTron’s third in Europe and second in the end-user market in 2022.

“Our mission is to help both small and large businesses make the digital leap,” Hannes Aigner, CEO of eversign, said. “Marrying our intuitive and affordable e-signature products with PDFTron’s leading document technology will help digitize more transactions and bring teams unparalleled productivity and efficiency.”
