There’s only four weeks left to submit an application for Innovate BC’s Ignite program, which awards up to $300,000 to accelerate commercialization for B.C.-based research and development projects that are developing game-changing innovations.
Ignite presents an exciting opportunity to British Columbians as it offers up to $300,000 to research and industry partnerships that are innovating in the areas of natural resources and applied sciences.
Supporting the Province of B.C.’s Stronger BC Economic Plan, the Ignite program helps aid B.C. businesses with the funds needed to add value to industries, create new jobs, and accelerate growth in B.C.’s economy. Since Ignite launched in 2016, $10.7 million has been awarded to 41 projects.
“Supporting local innovation and the people behind it is crucial to growing a strong and resilient economy that works for all British Columbians,” said Brenda Bailey, Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation.
“With only four weeks left to apply, I want to encourage everyone to make sure to get your application in! I’m excited to see what is next for B.C. businesses and what groundbreaking innovations will come from the Ignite program.”
The funding offered through the Ignite program opens doors to many B.C.-based companies and researchers working to solve significant challenges seen in B.C. Former Ignite winning projects are providing solutions in the areas of cleantech, energy, mining, forestry, and agriculture.
“I can’t wait to see what B.C. innovators are up to this year and the exciting solutions they’re proposing to tackle B.C.’s biggest challenges,” says Tomica Divic, Innovate BC’s Interim President + CEO. “It’s so wonderful to get to play a part in the commercialization of novel technologies and support the development of local research projects.”
