The tumultuous economic landscape of 2023 has thrown up many questions about the strategies top venture capital firms are adopting to navigate these challenging times.
Tech Ventures is set to host an interactive evening on June 15, focusing on the emerging trends in the VC sector amid ongoing economic difficulties.
The event, taking place from 5pm-7pm, is titled, “Life after unicorns: How are VCs measuring success in the downturn?” It takes place at the headquarters of local software development studio Two Tall Totems on Dunsmuir Street.
This timely event seeks to address uncertainties, delving into the evolving role of unicorns, the investment flow into early-stage ventures, and the hurdles VC firms are encountering in raising capital.
The discussion aims to equip early and growth-stage entrepreneurs with vital insights about the present capital environment.
Participants will be led through discussions on several key themes, including the critical success metrics in 2023; the elements that define “good” deal terms in the current landscape; the current incentives that drive VCs to invest; and the performance benchmarks employed by leading funds.
The speaker lineup boasts notable industry figures, including Lynsey Thornton, Founding Partner at Backbone Angels; Keith Gillard, CEO of UpperStage.Capital; Brian Martin, Partner & Investment Director at TELUS Ventures; and Cameron Burke, Partner of Technology at Fort Capital.
The limited-seat event is primarily targeted at entrepreneurs. Event partners include TTT Studios, Floorspace, and Innovate BC.
