A man rode across the United States of America on a Vancouver e-bike.
Kevin pedalled his electric bicycle from Vancouver-based Rize Bikes coast-to-coast.
Riding on their “City Mid-Drive” model, the cyclist covered nearly 4,000 miles over two months, ending in Oregon.
“One daring individual proved that an e-bike can take you places you never thought were even possible,” reads a blog post from Rize. “With doubters in the rearview mirror, this adventurous traveller set out to prove that the Rize City MD is more than just a city e-bike.”
Kevin, who shed almost 10 pounds on the trip, experienced some unforgettable moments—including spotting a wild horse on a cliff.
“Our e-bike adventurer proves that sometimes the most remarkable experiences come when we embrace the unexpected,” goes the Rize post.
The 64-year-old rider balanced the comfort of motels with the beauty of camping under starlight with typical range of 60 miles per day. His longest day saw him track more than 100 miles due to an unfortunate GPS error.
Perhaps most impressive is that Kevin only encountered a single flat tire along the route—a testament as much to Schwalbe as to Rize.
In addition to the MD model, Rize sells an array of e-bikes, including retro-styled ones and folding options.
Other Vancouver-area e-bike innovators include Enzo Drive Systems, which also engineers a range of electric mobility vehicles.
