Vancouver Film School (VFS) is partnering with General Motors to provide 3D Animation and Studio Effects students with an invaluable opportunity to gain experience working with the creative pipeline of one of the world’s largest brands.
Spanning the next eight months, students at VFS will have the privilege of utilizing GM assets and branding to conceive, develop, and produce an original “excitement reveal” for either the Chevrolet Equinox EV or Chevrolet Silverado EV as their final project.
With guidance and feedback from General Motors’ esteemed Global Creative Visualization team, these students will learn to transform a creative professional brief into a captivating 15-30 second advertisement that establishes an emotional connection with the audience.
Colin Gilles, Head of the School of Animation and Visual Effects at VFS, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This partnership with GM gives our students the chance to develop the critical skills that artists use every day in the 3D animation and visual effects industry. Whether working on blockbuster films, hit games or evocative marketing materials that connect companies to their customers, the skills fostered in this opportunity apply throughout the industry and help our students start their careers right way.”
The Global Creative Visualization Team, a division of GM responsible for producing digital renderings, high-quality images, and video footage for GMC, Chevrolet, Cadillac, and other divisions of the GM corporation, will be actively involved in guiding the students throughout the project. Their work often serves as the initial point of interaction for consumers, inviting them to delve into the world of GM cars, trucks, and vans.
