This week East Side Games Group (ESGG) announced a ‘strategic restructuring plan’ that includes a reduction of 20% of the studio’s workforce.
According to the announcement, the plan aims to realign the company’s priorities and transform ESGG into a “leaner, stronger, and more focused company, well-equipped to tackle the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”
LinkedIn lists 151 ESGG employees, so this restructuring likely effected ~30 studio employees.
“We firmly believe that the steps we are taking now are crucial for the long-term success of ESGG. While this decision was not made lightly, it is a necessary one as we work to create a leaner and more adaptable organization” said Jason Bailey, CEO of ESGG.
Earlier this week ESGG announced a new mobile game collaboration with All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
The passion for creating a wrestling game has been a long-standing interest within ESGG.
Former professional wrestler, Jamie Henwood, graduate of The Hart family’s famous Dungeon, joined ESGG and is now the Lead Designer for “AEW: Rise to the Top,” bringing a fan-first focus to the game.
