Glacier Media has launched Weatherhood, neighbourhood-level weather forecasting for Vancouver.
Unlike traditional forecasts, Weatherhood provides hyperlocal weather information tailored specifically to your neighbourhood from weather stations in your area.
Backed by a team of expert local and global meteorologists, Weatherhood harnesses data from over 50 stations placed across Metro Vancouver to deliver precise weather conditions.
Weatherhood’s cutting-edge technology integrates radar, satellite imagery, and ground-based observations, ensuring unparalleled accuracy. They even utilize available local traffic cameras to provide real-time visuals, capturing up-to-date images of current conditions.
Weatherhood is a Glacier Media business initiative with forecasts will be freely available through a user-friendly mobile and desktop browser app on 12 Glacier Media community publications across the South Coast, including Burnaby Now, Vancouver Is Awesome, and Whistler Pique.
This hyperlocal weather network is the first offering from Weatherhood and demonstrates the diverse opportunities that accurate neighbourhood-level weather information offers local organizations. The network enables weather-triggered advertising, providing businesses with a proven way to improve advertising effectiveness and reduce costs.
In addition, Weatherhood is currently in discussions with regional municipalities to develop smart city climate and weather networks that will inform staff and keep citizens safe and aware of how their local weather conditions impact their daily lives.
