The Victoria Tech Community Awards are back with a vengeance with more nominations and finalists than ever before.
After reviewing an 120 nominations, 50 finalists have been selected for ten award categories.
The finalists in each category will be now reviewed by a panel of delegates from VIATEC, Island Women in Science and Technology (iWIST), Women’s Equity Lab, Capital Investment Network (CIN), Alacrity Canada, and UVic’s Coast Capital Innovation Centre.
The Growth Company of the Year category includes Feature Media, HummingBird Drones / Fire AI, MarineLabs, and Niricson.
Founded in 2020, Niricson works with asset owners and managers such as utilities, federal governments, state governments, and engineering consulting companies to help them inspect, manage, and predict the performance of their assets through time. Earlier this year the Victoria-based startup raised a $10 million Series A funding round led by MUUS Climate partners.

In the running for Startup of the Year are ten companies including Origen Air, Axolotl Biosciences, VoxCell BioInnovation, and Solaires Entreprises.
VoxCell BioInnovation is creating vascularized, human-like cancer tissue models by combining a custom high-resolution 3D bioprinter, advanced software, and proprietary bio-inks. The Victoria startup aims to accelerate the development of life-saving anti-cancer drugs by providing tissue models that can identify viable candidates earlier in the drug-development pipeline.
Among the finalists for Anchor Company of the Year (30+ employees) are AOT Technologies, Redlen Technologies, a Canon Inc. company, and Workday.
The Victoria Tech Community Awards will take place on November 30th in Carson Hall at the Victoria Conference Centre.
