December 12, 2023 by Robert Lewis 1 Comment

Vancouver real estate developer Beedie is teaming up with Tesla to build the the electric vehicle manufacturer’s largest service facility in North America.

The 120,000-square-foot flagship service center will be built in Vancouver at 950 Raymur Avenue on a brownfield site in the city’s Strathcona neighbourhood.

“At Beedie we are committed to building legacies for our vibrant communities, so the opportunity to support the transition to electric vehicles through this partnership with Tesla is exciting,” Beedie president Ryan Beedie said regarding the announcement.

“We have often collaborated with innovative companies on unique, built-to-suit projects and we look forward to working closely with Tesla and the local community in the coming years.”

British Columbians are the highest adopters of zero emission vehicles in Canada with electric vehicles accounting for 21% of all new light-duty passenger vehicles sold in B.C. so far in 2023.

Construction of the new facility is set to begin in early 2024 with an estimated completion date of early 2026.

Operations at the new Vancouver Tesla facility will include servicing, vehicle preparation, delivery operations and a showroom.

This is a fantastic development for Vancouver and a testament to the city’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. The partnership between Beedie and Tesla will not only enhance the infrastructure for electric vehicles but also bolster the local economy with job creation and increased investment in the Strathcona neighborhood. It’s exciting to see such a large-scale project taking shape, and it underscores Vancouver’s leadership in adopting and supporting green technologies.
