The perennially profitable Safe Software announced today that it has received a strategic growth investment from JMI Equity, a firm focused on providing software companies with flexible capital, industry expertise, and operational support to build businesses of enduring value.
Headquartered in Surrey, Safe provides solutions that empower people and enterprises to unlock the full potential of their information, especially geo-spatial data.
“Our new investment partners at JMI have been following our journey for well over a decade,” said Safe Software cofounder Don Murray, “and they love what we have created and want to help us build upon our solid 30-year foundation as we enter an exciting next chapter.”
Brian Hersman, General Partner at JMI, believes that Safe offers a “groundbreaking and unique solution for enterprise data needs and represents a true industry success story.”
The BC firm’s flagship product is the Feature Manipulation Engine—a data integration platform with support for spatial data.
With FME’s tools, users can process and convert data, creating workflows that extend the reach of data integration, according to the company.
“We have known Don and Dale for many years, and we are thrilled to be a part of Safe’s future,” Hersman continued. “We look forward to working closely alongside Safe’s leadership team as they continue to innovate and deliver industry leading solutions to their clients around the world.”
According to Murray, the privately owned and recently rebranded Canadian company has been profitable since its inception in 1993.
“Dale Lutz and I have built a phenomenal company in Safe Software,” said Murray, “and I couldn’t be prouder of our team’s achievements over the last three decades.”
Murray says the financing will have no impact on day-to-day operations as the leadership team remains in tact and the company remains focused on serving clients.
Safe Software’s technology is leveraged by more than 200,000 users across over 25,000 organizations worldwide.
