VoltSafe is making waves in the marine sector, as well in the U.S.
Hot on the heels of a quickly maxed out FrontFundr campaign to raise capital for its patented electric charging innovation targeting the marine industry and far beyond, VoltSafe this week revealed that it has been selected by Newlab to join the exclusive tech centre in New York City.
The company was selected for its deep clean-tech, according to Trevor Burgess, cofounder and chief executive officer of VoltSafe.
“We’re creating a connected marina ecosystem,” says Burgess. “With VoltSafe technology, we’re future-proofing marinas in anticipation of rapidly evolving boat technology.”
Home to 250 startups and 1,000 entrepreneurs and investors, the community at Brooklyn-based Newlab is working together to address challenges in energy, mobility, and materials.
“Newlab is a deep tech venture platform with a place-based approach that only the best of the best startups are accepted into,” explains VoltSafe cofounder Sanad Aridah.
By “gaining location access to its vast network and incredible workshop space in New York, VoltSafe instantly expands its reach and footprint internationally,” says Aridah, who serves VoltSafe as chief of technology.
“This is an amazing development that will support the advancement and adoption of our flagship technology,” the CTO believes. “Expanding our operations in the heart of one of the largest deep tech investment cities in the world is beyond exciting.”
VoltSafe also announced this week that it won a Soundings Trade Only Most Innovative Marine Company Award at the International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition & Conference, finishing in eighth place amongst a Top 10 list of multi-billion dollar companies.
“To make the Top 10 of The Soundings Trade Only Most Innovative Marine Companies list as one of two startups alongside the world’s largest multi-billion dollar companies, and by such a well renowned publication, is an incredible honour,” stated Burgess.
“It’s validating to be recognized for being ahead of the curve,” he added.
Last year, VoltSafe won an IBEX Innovation Award for its shore power solution in the Boatyard and Marina Hardware and Software category. The annual IBEX in Tampa, Florida is the largest marine industry trade event in North America.
VoltSafe’s initial technology was developed in 2015. In 2018, the company successfully pitched on Dragons’ Den.
