Digital real estate investment platform addy continues to expand its geographical range and diversity, with the latest opportunity for investors hailing from Vancouver Island for the first time.
Ferndale Townhomes, located on Quadra Street in Victoria, represents the latest investment opportunity for users of addy, a Vancouver-born fintech platform built for everyday Canadians to obtain small stakes in commercial and residential real estate projects.
The Ferndale homes will arrive as the result of rezoning the site and developing a four-building, 18-unit project with the help of Shield Developments.
A two-year investment will return upward of 30%, addy estimates. So far, more than 50 investors have contributed a total of $50,000 toward the project.
Other active opportunities on addy include a cash-flow oriented commercial opportunity in New Brunswick and a high-rise residential building in Ontario.
Earlier this year, addy introduced a credit opportunity onto its digital investment platform for the first time, positing that credit investments provide an alternative avenue for those seeking returns with lower average risk than typical equity investments by offering predictable cash flow through regular interest payments.
The company also announced a collaboration with Canadian television star and real estate guru Scott McGillivray.
McGillivray has been an HGTV star in Canada for 15 years, appearing in over 300 episodes of television shows such as “Income Property,” “Moving the McGillivrays,” and “Buyers Bootcamp.”
“This partnership represents a significant step in our mission to make real estate investment opportunities accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial standing,” McGillivray stated in June. “By joining the addy platform, we are empowering everyday investors with the option to participate in high-quality real estate deals that were previously out of reach.”
Addy is open to all Canadians as of last year. Since launching 2018, addy has had more than 50 opportunities launch on the platform.
