Prairie-born Startup TNT has expanded westward, naming Vancouver’s Atome Bakery as the first-ever winner of its BC Summit.
The French-inspired bakery secured a $100,000 investment to scale its frozen sourdough bread delivery service, making artisanal bread more accessible across British Columbia and Alberta.
Startup TNT’s tri-annual Investment Summits provide a platform for entrepreneurs seeking seed-stage funding, connecting founders with investors in a collaborative environment. Atome Bakery, co-founded by Alice Couderc and Lucas Navilloz, stood out for its innovative approach to delivering healthy, frozen sourdough bread and pastries made with locally sourced flour.
Victoria-based MeepMeep also caught the spotlight with a “side deal” for its smart disc golf accessories. The startup’s flagship product, a smartphone-connected tracker for finding lost discs, highlights the diverse range of innovations showcased at the Summit. Additional details about the deal are expected in the coming weeks.
For investors, Startup TNT’s unique team-based diligence process combines experienced angel investors with first-time participants, making seed-stage investing more collaborative and efficient. At the end of the process, winning startups typically receive upwards of $100,000, with an additional $50,000 from TNT Capital, Startup TNT’s own venture fund.
Every year, Startup TNT facilitates $400,000 to $1 million in investments across its communities, bolstering local startup ecosystems. Its BC Summit marks an exciting milestone, showcasing the growing innovation and entrepreneurial talent in the province.
