Two North American innovators are partnering up to integrate and advance their technologies with an aim to combat wildfires via drones.
Squamish-born FireSwarm Solutions this week revealed a “groundbreaking partnership” with Tsunami Tsolutions, an engineering and information technology services company serving the aerospace and defence sectors out of Connecticut.
Tsunami and FireSwarm’s partnership will support the initial certification and fielding of FireSwarm’s Aerial Fire Suppression platform designed around the Fire Wasp heavy lift drone.
The FireSwarm platform will begin advanced demonstrations and testing in early 2025 and is now open for client consultations and pre-orders.
The collaboration combines Tsunami’s engineering and fleet management expertise with FireSwarm’s firefighting and technology expertise, according to Alex Deslauriers, founder and chief executive officer of FireSwarm.
FireSwarm and Tsunami are members of the BC Tech Association.

“This collaboration between Tsunami and FireSwarm is key to our platform moving from the design phase into certification and operations in an efficient and effective manner,” the CEO said. “Additionally, it demonstrates our commitment to the scalability and commercialization of the solution and our recognition of in-service support requirements.”
FireSwarm’s mission is to integrate drone technology and advanced flight automation to deliver cost-effective anti-wildfire solutions for government, industry, and special interest groups.
“We believe in the FireSwarm mission,” stated Tsunami CEO Mark Buongiorno, “and are committed to apply our expertise to assist in the transition from development to production enabling the certification process and helping to build the support and sustainment network from both an engineering and enabling IT technologies perspective.”
FireSwarm was founded in 2023 by Deslauriers alongside COO David Thahn and CMO Melanie Bitner.
