Vancouver-based healthcare technology company Light AI has joined forces with MrBeast Industries to launch a Strep A test donation initiative aimed at improving healthcare access in Africa.
The partnership is featured in a new Beast Philanthropy video, which premiered on YouTube on February 16, 2025.
Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, operates the world’s largest YouTube channel and is widely recognized for his large-scale charitable initiatives. His Beast Philanthropy channel donates all of its revenue to charitable causes, focusing on tackling urgent global issues.
Through this initiative, Light AI will donate AI-powered Strep A tests to underserved regions, allowing for faster and more accessible diagnosis of the bacterial infection.
With over 600 million cases of Strep A pharyngitis reported annually, untreated infections can lead to Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD)—a fatal condition responsible for up to 350,000 deaths each year and a global economic burden exceeding $1 trillion.
“We’re excited to partner with Light AI to help stop rheumatic heart disease at its root cause, which is Strep A,” said Jimmy Donaldson. “Their AI-powered technology makes early detection accessible and affordable, helping save lives in communities that need it most.”
Light AI’s CEO, Peter Whitehead, emphasized the life-saving potential of the company’s technology: “Light AI’s technology is simple, affordable, accessible, and powerful. Its immediate detection of Strep A is the answer to preventing life-threatening conditions like rheumatic heart disease and making a positive impact.”
By leveraging artificial intelligence, Light AI’s tests provide instant, accurate diagnoses, offering a breakthrough in the early detection and treatment of GAS pharyngitis. This collaboration underscores the growing role of AI-driven healthcare solutions in addressing global health disparities.
