123Dentist Taps VideaHealth to Bolster Clinical Operations with AI Assistance

March 4, 2025 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

An organization founded in the 90’s is adopting emerging technology to improve its operations.

Vancouver-born 123Dentist announced this week that it is adopting artificial intelligence tools with an aim to “enhance diagnostic accuracy, empower clinicians, and improves patient engagement.”

The Canadian company, which operates nearly 500 locations across Canada, revealed that it has tapped  into the expertise of VideaHealth, an upstart founded in Boston in 2017 to empower dental clinics with AI-powered tech stacks.

Dentist123 emphasizes the move is not about automation, but rather about improving quality of service through technological supplementation.

Instead of attempting to automate care, the company says it is “investing in human-AI collaboration, where AI serves as a support system for dental professionals.”

For example, AI-assisted diagnostics can help dentists reduce uncertainty and refine treatment plans.

“AI in dentistry is designed to enhance, not replace, doctor expertise,” says Dr. Naveen Verma, Senior Vice President of Clinical Growth at 123Dentist. “It’s a clinical tool that will help our doctors support their clinical diagnosis and discussions with patients.”

The transparency of AI-assisted diagnostics can also foster more collaborative discussions between patients and their providers, Verma suggests.

“AI is a powerful tool, but it’s the human connection that drives exceptional care,” remarked Verma. “VideaHealth supports our clinical teams by fostering patient trust through case presentation. By integrating VideaAI into our practices, we’re ensuring that technology enhances—not replaces—the clinician-patient relationship.”

The demand for VideaHealth’s technology is evident: The U.S. startup raised a US$40M Series B round of funding earlier this year.

“For AI to truly transform oral care, dentists require a solution that starts with delivering improved patient care in a way that builds trust with their patients,” Florian Hillen, founder and chief executive of VideaHealth, stated in January. “VideaHealth is committed to pushing the boundaries of what AI can achieve in dental care.”

Hillen believes that those adopting VideaHealth’s platform are at the forefront of the next generation of dentistry.

“123Dentist is setting new standards for AI-assisted dentistry,” Hillen commented this week. “We’re proud to support 123Dentist’s commitment to innovation and patient-first care.”
