Vancouver cybersecurity startup Styx Intelligence has raised $2.7 million in an oversubscribed Seed funding round to expand its AI-first platform designed to protect organizations from digital threats, including those amplified by generative AI technologies.
The round was led by BDC’s Seed Venture Fund, with additional participation from FRAMEWORK Venture Partners, Top Down Ventures, and Sprout Fund.
Founded by cybersecurity veterans Karim Ladha and Santosh Nair (pictured), Styx Intelligence aims to level the playing field between cyber attackers and organizations by offering a platform that detects and responds to external digital threats in real-time. The co-founders bring over a decade of experience building and scaling cybersecurity solutions and saw a critical need for better visibility into digital risks.
“Our experience in building and scaling companies has equipped us with the insights and skills needed to tackle the challenges of digital risk protection at scale,” said Ladha, who serves as Styx’s CEO. “We are committed to helping enterprises protect this new attack surface that’s expanding due to large language models and other generative AI tools.”
Investors see Styx as a timely solution for a growing problem. “Styx Intelligence is addressing an emerging market need with an AI-first approach that is both timely and essential, especially as AI and deepfakes reshape the threat landscape,” said Dinar Ahmed, Partner at BDC.
FRAMEWORK Venture Partners’ Jim Texier, former Chief Product & Technology Officer at Lightspeed, added that Styx’s edge lies in combining sophisticated tech with seamless user experience: “They’re clearly redefining digital risk protection for the modern enterprise.”
As digital threats grow more complex, the Digital Risk Protection (DRP) market is poised for rapid expansion. Styx plans to lead the charge by delivering intuitive, AI-powered cybersecurity tools that serve both technical and non-technical users.
“Our goal is to harness the power of AI to provide comprehensive protection without the need for bloated software,” said Nair, who is also the company’s CTO.
With fresh capital, a seasoned team, and backing from leading venture firms, Styx is positioned to become a major player in the evolving cybersecurity landscape.
