Svante, the Burnaby-based pioneer in carbon capture technology, is among five Canadian companies named to TIME Magazine’s inaugural list of the World’s Top Cleantech Companies of 2025.
Specializing in carbon removal solutions for heavy industry, Svante’s technologies help reduce emissions in some of the world’s most challenging sectors—an essential step toward achieving global net-zero goals.
Claude Letourneau, President and CEO of Svante, expressed his enthusiasm about the honor: “This acknowledgment is a testament to our team’s unwavering commitment to pioneering sustainable carbon capture and removal solutions.”
“As we launch our first gigafactory in Vancouver, capable of producing enough filters to capture 10 million tonnes of CO₂ annually, we’re catalyzing a new era: a rewiring of the industrial sector so that it can make low carbon intensity products by leveraging our innovative technology that can stop CO₂ from going into the atmosphere and equally remove it from the ambient air.”
TIME, in collaboration with data firm Statista, assessed more than 8,000 companies developing technologies aimed at reversing the effects of human activity on the planet. Rankings were based on environmental impact, financial strength, and innovation.
The other Canadian companies recognized were Toronto’s Waabi, Li-Cycle and eLeapPower and Eavor from Calgary.
In total, 250 companies from 30 countries made the list, representing a wide range of sectors and solutions. While U.S. firms claimed 11 of the top 20 spots, Canada’s cleantech leaders demonstrate that world-class climate innovation is thriving north of the border.
As the global climate crisis intensifies, companies like Svante and its Canadian peers are showing that the path to a cleaner future is diverse, high-tech, and increasingly global.
