Forget the pitch deck—this May, numbers do the talking.
Profitual, a Canadian startup focused on financial modeling software, has launched the No-Pitch Competition, a first-of-its-kind initiative that rewards founders based on the strength of their financial models rather than their storytelling skills. The winner will receive a $10,000 cash prize, with no strings attached.
In a startup landscape where pitch competitions often reward charisma over clarity, Profitual’s contest aims to flip the script. “Most startup competitions reward the best storytellers,” the company states. “This one rewards the best operators.”
Using Profitual’s own AI-powered forecast evaluator, every submission will be assessed against investor-grade benchmarks. Startups with the top five models will be invited to a brief virtual interview to confirm eligibility. The highest-scoring submission as of May 31, 2025, will be declared the winner, with results announced by June 16.
To apply, startups simply upload an Excel version of their financial forecast through a brief online form. Applicants can also opt to receive a personalized report evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of their model.
The competition is open to Canadian-based startups across all sectors, with a focus on those generating under $1 million in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR). Pre-revenue companies are welcome to apply.
By emphasizing financial discipline over flash, Profitual hopes to shift the focus of early-stage startup success. “It’s still about storytelling,” the company notes, “but we’re emphasizing the power in backing up your story with numbers you believe in.”
Applications are now open at profitual.ai/no-pitch.
