What does more than 1 million square feet look like in LEGO®?
Graeme Dymond – one of Canada’s only LEGO-certified master model builders – made a special visit to Vancouver to unveil a giant-sized LEGO model of one of the city’s most recognizable architectural landmarks: The Post.
Graeme’s 12-cubic foot model will give a creative ‘first look’ at some of the building’s never-before-seen features as construction nears completion. The Post – once Vancouver’s main regional processing facility for Canada Post – will feature 1.1 million square feet of office space and 185,000 square feet of retail.
Amazon will lease 18 floors in the building’s North Tower and 17 floors in its South Tower, as the sole corporate tenant. Property developer and manager, QuadReal, is overseeing construction to achieve LEED Gold Certification while preserving the building’s existing historic façade, as part of an ambitious heritage redevelopment.
Graeme kicked off the model build on September 23rd at the Tech Up! Showcase at Science World, an event dedicated to helping under-resourced families discover science and technology. More than 6,000 members of the local community attended the event, helping Graeme lay the first LEGO bricks on the model.
