We’re only one month into 2023 and Vancouver’s Stoko has already picked up three industry awards.
In January, Stoko was honored by winning the Outdoor Retailer Annual Innovation Award for their K1 Summit base layer. Stoko was also recognized by Gear Junkie’s Best in Show Awards for their presence at the Outdoor Retailer Snow Show.
Finally, The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design named the Stoko K1 Tempo a winner of their GOOD DESIGN Annual Awards in the Sports and Recreation category.
Most notably in the awards selection is the Outdoor Retailer Annual Innovation Award, which recognizes the cutting edge and carefully considered new products and retail services from across all seasons.
Determined by a panel of expert judges, winners of the annual awards are unveiled live in an awards ceremony during the Outdoor Retailer Snow Show.
Of the fifteen selected winners, Stoko was one of three B.C. based companies to win the award, including Vancouver’s MADE and Burnaby’s G3.
“Bringing anything new to market is insanely hard. Trying to change people’s minds from what they might have known to something completely different takes time, a lot of preaching and hard work,” Grant Matzen, Director of Sales at Stoko, told Techcouver.
“We’re thrilled to be recognized and awarded by Outdoor Retailer for a product that can truly change lives.”
Stoko has developed technology that embeds all the support of a traditional knee brace within the comfort of a compression tight. Their K1 tight mimics the natural support structures within your body to give your knee all the support of a traditional brace with unparalleled comfort.
Stoko raised a $6 million funding round in 2021 that included local angel investors John Currie (former CFO of lululemon), Norm Francis (Boardwalk Ventures), Greg Malpass (Traction on Demand), Darrell Kopke (Adelhard and formerly lululemon), and Paul Geyer (Discovery Parks and Nimbus Synergies).
