In a major move for the reservation technology sector, Victoria-based Checkfront announced a merger with Rezdy, an Australian tour and activity booking software company.
And building on this integration, Europe booking giant Regiondo also jumped on board, propelling the joint venture even higher in the global booking software arena.
Conceived by co-founders Jason Morehouse and Grant Jurgeneit over a decade ago, Checkfront has transformed the way tour service operators manage their bookings online.
Their platform was the answer to the long-standing issues faced by many tourism and rental businesses still tethered to outdated reservation tools, such as email forms and unwieldy software.
Morehouse reminisced recently about the company’s early days, launching out of a basement at a time when the term “reservation technology” was synonymous with dialling a number and leaving a voicemail.
The industry over time saw a surge in competition, with new players fragmenting the market.
Checkfront thus recognized a pressing need for an integrated solution that addressed the nuanced requirements of experience operators. Morehouse noted, “To truly cater to our operators, uniting forces seemed the way forward.”
Why Rezdy and Regiondo? These companies, according to Morehouse, complete a puzzle Checkfront has been keen to solve.
“The collaboration of our distinct strengths presents unprecedented support to tourism firms worldwide,” he stated. “Combining our companies will benefit all operators, teams, the industry, and our strategic positions, with extensive regional presence and supporting diverse verticals.”
Morehouse extended gratitude to everyone part of Checkfront’s journey, from Checkmates and board members, to customers, and of course including early angel investors Rasool Rayani Andrew Wilkinson.
“I eagerly anticipate the adventures ahead with our newfound allies from Australia and Europe,” he concluded.
For clients, adventures ahead will mean “business as usual, offering continued excellent service for our customers.”
