It was in 2019 that the Globe & Mail published its inaugural Report on Business ranking of Canada’s fastest growing companies.
Since then, Techcouver has reported on regional data pulled from the annual report, observing how Vancouver tech fares on the national stage.
The fifth ranking of Canada’s Top Growing Companies, which scores participating private and public Canadian businesses based on three-year revenue growth, shows that in 2023, Vancouver tech is strong as ever.
With dozens of BC-based companies listed—including 36 in Vancouver and five in Victoria—signs of growth are strong and the presence of tech is potent.
For example, West Vancouver-based digital healthcare platform Thrive Health was among the province’s top performers, ranking 21st nationwide in its first appearance on the list with three-year revenue growth of more than 1,800%.
Other tech firms on the list include Victoria’s Certn—in 16th with 2,000% growth—and Vancouver’s Klue (59th), who were both named earlier this year to the inaugural Vector AI20.
An innovator for e-commerce logistics, UniUni, came out as the province’s fastest-growing firm.
With three-year revenues rising nearly 13,000%, the Richmond-born upstart ranked 4th nationwide. The delivery tech platform this year raised $20 million in Series B financing from Celtic House Venture Partners, Freshwave Capital, and others to power its logistics platform that leverages the gig economy to optimize what the industry refers to as “last-mile delivery.”
Just ahead of UniUni ranks Surrey-based transportation management firm Westcore Logistics—which grew revenue 14,000% with a workforce of just 23.
The rebounding Thinkific Labs, once battered by layoffs, posted 400% revenue growth, ranking 112th. Another notable name on the list for Techcouver readers is meal-kit firm Fresh Prep (167th).
Overall, the rankings reflect a region that has the fastest-growing technology workforce in Canada.
BC’s Western Canadian neighbour, Alberta, also posted a strong tech-forward showing.
