Now in its 24th year, the New Ventures BC Competition, presented by Innovate BC, is back and searching for BC’s best new tech startups.
BC’s largest and longest-running tech competition is known for identifying and propelling forward the province’s most quickly-rising startups.
Since inception, the NVBC competition has supported more than 3,500 BC tech companies that have collectively gone on to create over 9,000 full-time jobs and raise over $1.5 billion in financing. Last year, 212 startups entered the competition, with North Vancouver’s RetreatsAndVenues emerging victorious.
Competition alumni continue to make significant strides in the tech industry, both locally and abroad.
Moment Energy, a 2021 alumni, recently announced a partnership with the Vancouver International Airport to offer reliable, high-speed charging capacity for the public and fleet vehicles.
Reforestation startup, Flash Forest, has secured multiple funding rounds since competing in the 2020 Competition, including an $11.4 million Series A last year to support expansion across North America.
And biotech giant AbCellera — who competed in the competition more than a decade ago — broke ground on their new 380,000-square-foot global headquarters in Mount Pleasant.
This year New Ventures BC is giving away over $250,000 in non-dilutive cash and prizes to the most promising tech ventures across the province. Apply by April 11th.
