Be on the look out for Lime’s new parking stations on the streets of Vancouver.
Lime and the City of Vancouver have begun installing the stations and educating potential riders on what to expect and how to ensure the new transportation mode enhances green mobility while keeping the city neat and tidy.
The new shared e-scooter program will officially launch in East Vancouver on Thursday, September 12th.
Lime’s parking station solution couldn’t come at a better time. Micro-mobility e-scooters are one of the most divisive modes of transportation in the world right now.
Thanks to an increase in accidents and complaints that they’re causing chaos on sidewalks and streets, some cities are voting to end contracts with e-scooter operators. For example, Lime was recently given 30 days’ notice to remove their vehicles in Melbourne, Australia.
The installation of the first Lime custom parking station marks a global first, making Vancouver the first city in the world to benefit from the new hardware that was custom designed and built from the ground up with the unique needs of the city in mind.
Lime’s e-scooters will be accessible only at designated stations strategically located across the city.
“All of us at Lime are honoured to have been chosen to launch Vancouver’s first shared e-scooter program. From the moment we heard the news we have been working tirelessly across multiple departments all over the world to design and build these uniquely tailored parking stations,” ‘said Vladana Zlatic, General Manager, Lime Canada.
“We kept the unique needs of Vancouver and its streetscape front of mind during every moment spent planning and creating this new mode of hardware and we are excited for our neighbours here to be the first people in the world to test them out.”
Lime will continue to install parking stations on a rolling basis in preparation for the September launch coordinating each new install closely with the city.
