Innovate BC has appointed Elizabeth Dutton as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), tasking her with spearheading operational growth and fostering a high-performance team to support the province’s innovation ecosystem.
Dutton brings over a decade of executive leadership experience, with a strong track record of driving growth in Canada’s technology sector.
Prior to joining Innovate BC, she served as Vice President of Digital Operations at Black Press Media, where she led digital strategy and expanded the company’s online classified business. She is also a founding partner of Women’s Equity Lab, a global network of women-led venture funds with over 400 investors across Canada and the U.S.

Dutton has also held leadership roles at Used.ca and Amazon.com, in addition to advising CEOs through Lawrence & Company Growth Advisors. Actively engaged in B.C.’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, she serves as a mentor, advisor, and board member across industries including cleantech, healthcare, and education.
