Four B.C. Companies Named to 2026 Global Cleantech 100

January 14, 2026 by Robert Lewis Leave a Comment

Cleantech Group has released its 2026 Global Cleantech 100, recognizing companies around the world positioned to deliver solutions that support a cleaner, more resilient global economy.

This year’s list includes four companies headquartered in British Columbia, highlighting the province’s growing influence across energy storage, carbon removal, critical minerals, and digital infrastructure.

Now in its 17th year, the Global Cleantech 100 spotlights innovators addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges, from industrial decarbonization and clean energy systems to supply-chain resilience and data-driven efficiency.

Following a year marked by geopolitical uncertainty and shifting economic signals, the global cleantech ecosystem enters 2026 with slightly greater stability but intensifying competition. According to Cleantech Group, growth is increasingly concentrating around two dominant themes: AI-enabled infrastructure and critical minerals, alongside scalable technologies that can decarbonize energy-intensive sectors.

This year, nine Canadian companies were named to the Global Cleantech 100. British Columbia’s representation reflects the province’s strengths at the intersection of clean energy, advanced materials, and software-driven optimization.

Vancouver-based Moment Energy was recognized for its work repurposing end-of-life electric vehicle batteries into energy-storage systems for industrial, commercial, and microgrid applications. The company partners directly with automakers, positioning second-life batteries as a scalable solution for growing energy-storage demand while easing pressure on critical mineral supply chains.

Also based in Vancouver, Mangrove Lithium earned a spot on the list for its electrochemical approach to lithium production. The company focuses on optimizing the extraction phase, converting impure rock extracts into battery-grade lithium hydroxide, a critical input for electric vehicle and energy-storage markets.

British Columbia’s carbon-removal sector was represented by CO280, which develops large-scale projects focused on delivering permanent, affordable carbon dioxide removal. The company’s work reflects growing global demand for durable CDR solutions as governments and corporations look beyond emissions reductions alone.

Digital infrastructure also featured prominently. Victoria-based Pani was recognized for its cloud-based machine-learning platform that helps operators improve the efficiency and performance of industrial and municipal water-treatment facilities, reducing energy use and operating costs.

Beyond British Columbia, the Canadian companies named to the 2026 Global Cleantech 100 span geothermal energy, advanced recycling, AI-driven building design, carbon utilization, and ocean-based carbon removal, with firms headquartered across Alberta, Ontario, and Atlantic Canada.

Canada’s total of nine companies matches last year’s showing, suggesting sustained depth in the country’s cleantech pipeline even as global competition accelerates. For British Columbia, the inclusion of four companies underscores the province’s continued emergence as a hub for globally relevant climate and energy innovation—combining software expertise, clean-energy development, and advanced materials to meet rising global demand.
