Vancouver’s eSense Launches Women’s Health Pilot

March 19, 2026 by Techcouver Newsdesk Leave a Comment

Vancouver-based eSense Health has launched a North American pilot program aimed at improving access to care for women experiencing sexual health concerns.

The digital platform delivers clinically validated psychological therapies—including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based therapy (MBT)—through a structured, at-home program designed to be both private and affordable.

Sexual concerns such as low desire, arousal challenges, and emotional distress affect up to 40 per cent of women, yet access to treatment remains limited due to stigma, cost, and a shortage of trained specialists.

“Women’s sexual health has been overlooked in healthcare for far too long,” said eSense CEO Elayne Wandler. “This pilot represents an important step toward ensuring more women can access effective care when they need it.”

eSense Health is a member of the BC Tech Association.

The program translates established, evidence-based treatments into a digital format, addressing the complex mix of biological, psychological, and relational factors that influence sexual health—from stress and hormonal changes to life transitions and past experiences.

Dr. Lori Brotto, a clinical psychologist and professor at the University of British Columbia, says the need for more accessible solutions is clear.

“The science has been clear for years—we have treatments that work,” she said. “The challenge has been making them accessible. Digital programs like eSense have the potential to extend evidence-based care to far more women.”

The pilot will provide access to approximately 300 participants through healthcare providers and the company’s existing waitlist. According to eSense, peer-reviewed research shows the program delivers outcomes comparable to in-person therapy.

Clinicians are also watching closely. “We regularly see women who are struggling with sexual concerns but have very few accessible treatment options,” said Ottawa-based menopause specialist Dr. Marianne Trevorrow. “Tools like eSense have the potential to expand access to meaningful support.”

Insights from the pilot will inform product development ahead of a broader commercial rollout planned for the second half of 2026.
