Twelve ventures founded by University of British Columbia researchers and students will pitch to investors next month as part of Innovation UBC’s annual Investor Showcase.
Set for April 14 at UBC Robson Square, the event highlights a new cohort of early-stage companies emerging from one of Canada’s leading research institutions, spanning sectors including health, artificial intelligence, and clean materials.
The showcase, Innovation UBC’s flagship annual event, brings together startups selected from its Venture Founder and HATCH Venture Builder programs. The presenting companies are raising Seed to Series A rounds and have been vetted by an external evaluation committee.
This year’s cohort reflects the breadth of commercialization activity at UBC, with ventures tackling challenges across digital therapeutics, medical devices, diagnostics, deep tech, and biotechnology.
Among the companies set to present are Dream Photonics, Carbonyx Minerals, Haibu Health, Radiant Fluidics, and CheckMark, alongside Promirin Therapeutics, Sustainable Bioproduct Innovations Inc. (SBI), Sonus Microsystems, eSense Health, VibeOps Technologies, Resolve Nanotherapeutics, and Tydra Labs.
The event offers a window into how university-based research is translating into venture-backed companies, particularly in sectors where British Columbia continues to build momentum, including life sciences and AI.
It also serves as a key connection point between founders and the region’s investor community, with a curated audience of venture capitalists, angel investors, and ecosystem stakeholders expected to attend.
The Investor Showcase will take place in person at the UBC Robson Square Theatre, with doors opening at 4:00pm.
