It’s no longer just a rumor, Shopify has arrived and they’re ready to share their plans for Vancouver.
Shopify is set to hire 1,000 people in Vancouver, expanding its team with a slew of backend developers, data engineers, mobile developers, web developers, product designers and product managers.
Shopify’s new office will be led by Lynsey Thornton, vice president of UX, who was Shopify’s first employee in Vancouver. Thornton has been with the company since 2013 and started out as a UX research lead.
On Thursday, March 12th they’re hosting a panel discussion by webinar where you’ll be able to learn more about Shopify: their product, their team, and some of the big challenges they have ahead.
Thornton will lead a panel that includes VPs of Engineering Delaney Manders and Farhan Thawar, and Mamak Yaghmaie, Staff Developer (Money Products). The panel will also touch on why Shopify chose Vancouver as their next major expansion.
