While the future of shared office space may be in question, Discovery Parks has announced the winners of their Generator Challenge 10.0 Competition.
The annual competition awards turn-key workspace for 12 months to early-stage tech companies that demonstrate a high likelihood of success.
The Generator program is based on the concept that free-flowing ideas, minimal barriers and a belief in serendipity accelerate the growth and success of technology companies.
An initiative developed between Discovery Parks and the City of Vancouver in 2011, winners also get access to mentors and programming provided by Discovery Parks, Nimbus Synergies and LifeSciences BC.
Pending co-working restrictions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, these seven companies may move into the Generator as early as June 1, 2020:
BuzzIt – BuzzIt is an app that lets you start live group chats with other users at your location without sharing contact information.
Granville KM – The only source of dynamically updated and actively edited merger control information available to competition lawyers.
Heal Mary – A platform that connects patients, caregivers and doctors to clinical trials worldwide. Heal Mary uses natural language processing to translate medical jargon into plain words which allows patients to understand and self-apply into a trial of their choosing.
Inverted AI – Spun out of UBC, Inverted AI is building a proprietary software system that predicts human driving behavior and is using it to build bots imitating human drivers for simulators where self-driving cars are trained.
Medimap – Medimap’s core product is currently used by millions of patients to look up wait times at walk-in medical clinics across the country and to check-in online. Medimap recently added a telemedicine service for virtual care.
Streamline Athletes – A sports recruiting platform that delivers more efficient recruitment processes for university-bound high school student-athletes and for collegiate coaches.
Woodseer – A fintech startup using artificial intelligence to build a very accurate dividend forecasting platform. Customers include investment banks, options traders and hedge funds.
