The BC Tech Association announced yesterday that it is closing their BC Tech Innovation Hub at 887 Great Northern Way effective November 30, 2020. Techcouver had learned that MEC will be taking over the space.
The 26,000 square foot Innovation Hub opened in 2014 with the help of $10.4 Million in Canada Accelerator and Incubator Program (CAIP) funding from the Government of Canada. Western Economic Diversification was responsible for its funding from 2019 to 2020.
“Our vision to create a place where tech entrepreneurs can land, connect, and grow their companies in an open collaborative environment is now a reality,” said former association president Bill Tam regarding the opening. “We are open for business and invite the tech and business community, investors, partners and customers to use The Hub to help us write the next chapter for BC Tech.”
According to the closure announcement, the Hub provided over 80 tech companies with a place to call home during its six year tenure.
