Last night the finalists of Spring Activator’s 2020 Impact Investor Challenge pitched their businesses for the final time to the program’s investor cohort.
The Impact Investor Challenge is a 2-month program that Spring Activator runs to grow the impact investor community, guide early-stage and impact-curious investors into impact investing, and fund impact entrepreneurs.
This group of 19 early-stage impact investors graduated from the program by collectively awarding $100,000 in investments to the winning venture, Indiegraf.
Indiegraf makes launching digital news outlets easy. Built for independent journalist entrepreneurs, the Indiegraf platform provides a technology, growth and revenue engine so journalists can focus on what’s most important: serving their community.
“Communities that have long been underrepresented in the news are disproportionately impacted by the collapse of traditional local newspapers,” says Erin Millar, Co-founder and CEO of Indiegraf. “Spring’s backing will help us bring meaningful local news to the thousands of news deserts across North America.”
Since the launch of the Challenge in 2019, Spring has trained 80 impact investors.
“We’re thrilled to see another 19 impact investors graduate from the Impact Investor Challenge. The cumulative $100,000 investment continues to ignite businesses creating meaningful change,” says Mari Mathews, Program Director for impact investor training programs at Spring Activator. “We look forward to supporting the newly trained impact investors on their journey to funding crucial purpose-driven ventures. This is just the beginning.”
