TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) was founded in Silicon Valley in 1992 by successful entrepreneurs with roots in the Indus region (the Indian subcontinent).
With a mission to support startups through networking and the raising of capital for entrepreneurs, TiE has spread over 72 chapters in 17 countries with over 20,000 Members.
TiE Vancouver is hosting a fireside chat with angel investor Hannes Blum on May 20th from 9:30am to 10:45am. In conversation with Maninder Dhaliwal, chair of TiE Vancouver Angels, Blum will be speaking about building startups and fundraising.
Blum is Venture Partner North America for Acton Capital, a Munich based VC fund focused on consumer internet. He sits on the Board of six companies and is an active Angel Investor.
Blum founded JustBooks along with Boris Wertz and they sold it to Victoria’s AbeBooks.com where Blum was asked to take over as CEO. After acquiring 5 companies, Blum sold AbeBooks to Amazon.com in 2008 and stayed on as a VP for Amazon.com until May 2015.
